Regional Director, UNEP meets with SAU President to discuss mutual collaboration

Ms. Dechan Tsering, Regional Director, UNEP visited South Asian University (SAU) accompanied by Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati, India Head, UNEP along with other senior colleagues and met with Professor K. K Aggarwal, President of SAU to discuss issues and matters of mutual importance. These areas included among others joint programs, research, academic programs where UNEP and SAU and come together and collaboratively execute the programs including with the Indian government in areas and issues related to climate change, sustainability and climate negotiations for South Asia and beyond. Talks between the two also focussed on bringing in on bilateral and other multilateral partners to expand the scale and scope of the partnerships between UNEP and SAU.

President, SAU welcomed the overall pathways of mutual partnerships both between UNEP and SAU and also with the government to be able to expand and deepen the partnerships discussed.

UNEP’s regional director appreciated the academic excellence and environment at SAU and agreed to take forward collaboration and partnership between the SAU and UNEP to new and functional levels.

Professor Pooran Chandra Pandey, Director of the Climate Centre at South Asian University joined the discussions between the SAU President and UNEP’s regional director and India Head of the UNEP.

UNEP’s Regional Director also spent time in having a tour of the SAU campus and facilities along with India Head and other senior colleagues from UNEP.
